Grades
Your current grade is displayed by the colour of your belt. This enables others during training to quickly assess your experience and rank, and to adapt or tailor their training appropriately. Novices are normally treated a little more gently and carefully, since they are still learning breakfalls.

Notes
- Candidate: From 5 th Kyu onwards, and with the exception of Koryu-dai-San, candidates will be expected to be able to demonstrate on left or right at examiner's choice.
- Coaches: Gohon-no-Kuzushi, currently shown in BAA syllabus at 2nd Kyu, is recognised as a training method and should be incorporated into practice sessions.
- Coaches: Tanto Randori-no-Kata is recognised as a training method and should be incorporated into practice sessions.
- At all levels after 6 th Kyu, previous syllabus will be required at the discretion of the examiners.
- Duration, intensity and quantity of the ‘Application' sections will be at the discretion of the examiners.
