Notes

  • Coaches: Red belt - the coloured belt system is important insofar as it gives encouragement to students by showing visual confirmation of progress. As new Keikogi are supplied with a white belt, it is recommended that clubs maintain a stock of red belts for loan to new students.
  • Candidate: From 5 th Kyu onwards, and with the exception of Koryu-dai-San, candidates will be expected to be able to demonstrate on left or right at examiner's choice.
  • Coaches: Gohon-no-Kuzushi, currently shown in BAA syllabus at 2 nd Kyu, is recognised as a training method and should be incorporated into practice sessions.
  • Coaches: Tanto Randori-no-Kata is recognised as a training method and should be incorporated into practice sessions.
  • At all levels after 6 th Kyu, previous syllabus will be required at the discretion of the examiners.
  • Duration, intensity and quantity of the ‘Application' sections will be at the discretion of the examiners.
